About the data
Lifeway surveyed U.S. adults ages 23–30 in 2017 who regularly attended Protestant church in high school. The 66% figure describes a break of at least one year at ages 18–22, not an annual rate or necessarily a permanent departure. Published 2019; not a current Gen Z estimate.
